82nd Annual Academy Awards- Arrivals
The biggest night in Hollywood, and the most fabulicous red carpet, went down last night and FM has the best and worst looks broken down for you:
Zoe Saldana, who recently set Hollywood on fire with her roles in Star Trek and Avatar, hit the carpet in Givenchy Couture from its Spring 2010 Paris runway presentation, straight off the runway. The strapless dress with layers of tulle at the bottom, and shades of purple fading into each other was the perfect look for Oscar night! Zoe hit it right out the park, she gets BEST DRESSED from me!
Jennifer Lopez hit the carpet in one of my favorite looks of the night, a sculpted pale-pink Armani Prive gown. Loving this dress, and it sits on her figure well! Jenny has never been one afraid of taking risks, and she turned it up for the Oscars. Loving it! HIT
Mo’Nique, who also snagged the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Precious, hit the carpet with her husband Sidney Hicks. She wore a blue Tadashi Shoji gown with a gardenia flower in her hair- her look was a tribute to the late & great Hattie McDaniel. “The reason I have on this royal blue dress is because it’s the color Hattie McDaniel wore in 1940 when she accepted her Oscar,” she said, clutching her Academy Award. “The reason I have this gardenia in my hair is because it’s the flower Hattie McDaniel wore when she accepted her Oscar”. For those who never heard of Ms. McDaniel, she was the first black woman to ever win an Oscar, and she won it for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Gone With The Wind. That was approximately 60 years ago.Mo’Nique is only the 5th Black women to win an acting Oscar.
First time actress and Oscar nominee Gabby Sidibe walked the carpet in a blue Marchesa gown, with embellishment at the bust and waist. The dress was a perfect fit for her, and she sure does know how to dress for her body! Love the look on her, and apparently she did too because she told Ryan Seacrest “If fashion was porn, this dress is the money shot. You know it.” I hear that, sister! LoL HIT
Carrie Bradshaw Sarah Jessica Parker rocked this satin champagne colored Chanel Couture slim fitting gown, with a twisted leg detail. I definitely think this look is cute on her, but maybe for a movie premiere, not the Oscars. MISS. Sidenote: I always think this when I see her, but it’s something about her eyes. Can’t quite put my finger on it…
For more FAB red carpet coverage…
Robin Thicke and his very pregnant and fabulous wife Paula Patton hit the carpet together, and she rocked this bright orange (which some people are crediting as being “fire engine red”, perhaps it’s red in person?) Carolina Herrera gown with layering along the bust and a small train at the back. I have seen many pregnant women hit red carpets and SHUT. IT. DOWN, I would have liked to see her up the ante! It’s a MISS for me.
Disney’s first Black princess, Anika Noni Rose, hit the carpet in this mirror-embellished bust gown with pale-pink taffeta from the waist down. Loving the play on details, and the sheer bow was minimal but still necessary for the look. Not really loving the hair, but I’m loving the dress! HIT
The timeless Demi Moore rocked a soft & romantic themed Atelier Versace gown side bow detailing at the hip. Loving the amounts of fabric and the shades of brown dancing on each other. But I’m indecisive of whether the look is Oscar worthy.
Charlize Theron, whom I heart with all my heart, rocked a fitted John Galliano for Dior gown with a train on the back and flower bust. I must say, I am NOT loving this dress at all! It was one of my least favorite looks of the night. I’ve seen better from her, and her stylist Michelle is actually very good at what she does! Not understanding this choice. MISS
Cameron Diaz wore a strapless Oscar de la Renta dress (one of my fave designers!) with metallic ribbons and pailettes sprinkled throughout the gown. Absolutely loving this look on her, and so does everyone else since she’s been getting “Best Dressed” from a lot of people and publications. HIT
Miley Cyrus, who is looking slimmer than usual, rocked this strapless bustier style gold Jenny Packham gown with sparkles on the bottom. I actually like this dress on her, even though others were concerned about the appropriateness being that she’s so young. I think we’ve all pretty much come to the conclusion that she is not a teenager-teenager, if you catch my drift. Love the look, though! HIT
Best Actress winner Sandra Bullock came looking like Oscar himself in this fitted gold Marchesa gown with lace bodice. I wish she would have upped the ante, I mean, she was a nominee! Not loving this one. MISS
Kate Winslet rocked this simple silver Yves Saint Laurent gown, and I wasn’t really feeling it. Not to mention, I’m over the 50’s hair! I can’t just give her a MISS though, because she doesn’t look not-good.She’s definitely in the middle, though.
The very gorgeous Zoe Kravitz and her rock star dad, the very sexy Lenny Kravitz, hit the carpet together. Zoe rocked a fun gown with a burgundy velvet bodice with v-cut and huge ribbon on back, and a pink bottom. The two-tone dress fit the young actress/singer perfectly, and it’s a switch up from the usually bohemian-grunge Zoe. I like it. HIT
Twilight star Kristen Stewart rocked this navy blue Monique Lhuillier gown with draped trumpet skirt, and surprisingly I like it on her! The usually dull and pallid actress actually looked nice in this gown, loving it. HIT
Nicole Richie kept it vintage fab in this blue metallic Reem Acra gown, with deep-v in the back. Loving this dress on her, and absolutely j’adore the make-up! HIT
Mariah Carey hit the carpet with her husband Nick Cannon rocking this navy blue Valentino dress and nude-ish Christian Louboutin peep-toe pumps. *yawn* She is boring me to death and I swear she has a whole bunch of dresses like this just lying around her house. Not loving this look, at all! MISS
Queen Latifah looked amazing in this pink one-shoulder Badgley Mischka dress, with crystal embellishment along the bust and on the shoulder strap. Loving this look on the Queen. HIT
Diane Kruger rocked this ivory and black Chanel dress with the back out, and I actually love it on her! It’s simple but still a bit “bam” at the same time. Love, love it! HIT
Tina Fey usually bores the living day lights out of me on the red carpet, I can’t even put it in words! But this red carpet, she raised the bar up (by her standards, compared to her past looks) in this animal print Michael Kors one shoulder gown. Like this look on her, just wish there was more pizazz, but it’s a fab look nonetheless. HIT
Amanda Seyfried went for the same aesthetic as J. Lo, a whimsical Lunar inspired feel. This dress, like J. Lo’s, is also Armani Prive. Loving the dress on her, just wish she wore a necklace or at least bold earrings. her neck is too bare for my likings, love the look though, especially the sculpted bust line. HIT
Oh how I love Meryl Streep! She’s the poo, not to mention she’s had a whopping 15 Oscar nominations throughout her career! For her red carpet look, she ditched the couture European usual suspects and went with ‘Project Runway’ alum Chris March. Loving this dress on Ms. Streep, it’s very age appropriate but still very sexy. HIT
Oscar nominee Penelope Cruz rocked a couture Donna Karan gown, going with a more Fall color, unlike her contemporaries who were in early Spring with their brights and pastels. Loving the duchess satin gown on the Spanish actress, who is already an owner of an Oscar. HIT
Sherri Shepard rocked a navy blue one-shoulder dress, which seemed to be the color of the night, and looked pretty fab. Not too over the top, and not overly boring or casual. Loving the fit of the dress on her.
Precious director and Oscar nominee Lee Daniels brought along his fab daughter to accompany him to the Oscar. Love when men bring their children as their dates, very endearing and special to share such a moment with your child. Awwww 🙂
And that’s all folks! I will be back later on with my picks for best and worst dressed, that one is going to be a toughie though! Everyone seemed to be on top of their game today. You can choose your best & worst dressed as well! Drop it in the comment box 🙂
