Fall Trend: Red Lips

AAAHHHH, little black dress. You know the one that we keep in our closet in case of “CODE RED” (Definition – Emergency Outfit) LOL. You’re sitting at home watching your favorite T.V. shows when, your girlfriends decide to call and beg you go to this new hot spot in town (*sigh* been there, done that LOL).  So of course, you pull out that little black dress.  It’s sexy, never goes out of style, and you know you just can’t go wrong. Well, just like that little black dress, your little red lipstick should be on standby! It’s timeless just like that little black dress.

Marilyn Monroe and Dorothy Dandridge rocked it out in the 1950’s and now you see celebrities like Scarlett Johansson and Angelina Jolie wearing it in the present.  And for my Black Beauties, that’s afraid to put some color on those lips, YES *pointing* YOU! Have no fear, Teen Vogue is here! LOL.  This month’s issue has African-American supermodels, Chanel Iman and Jourdan Dunn, on the cover rocking their red lips, looking absolutely fabulous.  So, if they can do it, SO CAN YOU!!! 😉

It’s classic, fun, gives you that right amount of sex appeal, and is SOOOO simple.  Don’t feel like beating your face tonight??? No Worries!!! A little eyeliner and a nice red lipstick should set you straight.  Now, the key to a red lip is color and lip liner.  So, you gotta make sure you choose right.  My top pick would be SMASHBOX DOUBLE TAKE LIPCOLOR: Cranberry $22 (SEPHORA), M.A.C. LIPSTICK: RUBY WOO $14 (M.A.C. Cosmetics).  And for my RECESSIONISTAS (I could never forget you LOL), Revlon has very pretty reds so, REVLON SUPER LUSTROUS LIPSTICK: FIRE AND ICE, THAT’S SO RED $8 (drugstores), should do you just fine.  So when desperate times call for desperate measures, pull out that little red lipstick.  Because with this classic timeless trend, you can’t go wrong.
