The Model As Muse: Embodying Fashion– RED CARPET
The biggest night in fashion went down in NYC Monday night, The Met Costume Institute Gala, and as usual, it didn’t fail to sizzle and leave mouths open! The looks were nothing short of dramatic, and while some people passed with flying colors, others failed to make the grade:
Chanel Iman sizzled in a flirty Zac Posen animal print gown. While her accessories shined too, it made sure to not outshine the real star- the dress. HIT
Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr turned heads in this sexy, revealing fringe Jil Sander’s dress. Usually, I’m all for the extremely dramatic floor length, poof sleeve, 3 foot train dresses for an event like this, but Miranda worked it out in this little black dress. HIT
They usually funky Agyness Deyn went retro Hollywood glam in this silver Burberry gown. While she kept it simple in this shiny silver dress, and minimal accessories, her hair & make-up stole the show. The Costume Institute Gala is all about taking risks, and because Agyness stepped out of the box, compared to her usual style, it’s a HIT!
The biggest surprise of the night, and the person everyone was on the look out for- Rihanna, turned heads in her Dolce & Gabbana feminine tuxedo suit with exaggerated shoulders. While this was a MISS for most people, I think it was perfect! Had this been the Grammy’s, she would have got a MISS from me. But for crying out loud, this is the COSTUME INSTITUTE GALA! She kept that in mind, so she gets a HIT.
Mommy to be Heidi Klum brought it as usual! The worked it out in this navy blue & black J. Mendel dress. She kept her hair up in a bun, and out of the way! Smart move, Heidi. Her glam squad never fails to disappoint! HIT
While Jessica Alba looked gorgeous in this strapless, jeweled top Jason Wu dress, pairing it with black opaque tights was a big no-no! Not to mention this look was a little too toned down for the event. MISS
The fiercest thing Hollywood has ever seen, Victoria Beckham, brought out all stops for this event. Her polka dot Marc Jacobs dress and cone heeled with pearl ball shoes was nothing short of fierce & fabulous! HIT
Anne Hathaway looked royal in her purple Marc Jacobs dress, with retro puffy hair do with loose flip. Love this look on her. HIT
Jessica Biel looked simply gorgeous in this red dramatic Atelier Versace dress & peep toe Christian Louboutin pumps. She looked simply beautiful with her man Justin Timberlake on her arm. HIT
Blake Lively, who takes pride in not having a stylist, stepped out in this one sleeved, split front Versace dress. This look on her was simple & beautiful. HIT
Eva Longoria kept it simple in a black Diane von Furstenberg dress with the back out and H. Stern jewelry. Eva usually pulls out all stops on the red carpet, down to the hair & make-up. So for the simplicity & lack of pizzaz, MISS
Tyra Banks stepped out in a metallic black strapless Badgley Mischka Couture fishtail gown. The braided bun sitting on top of her head, and two tone skin gets a MISS.
Katy Perry kept it simple and sleek in this Cleopatra styled royal blue fitting gown. Katy usually goes for a very out of the box, funky look but chose to play it safe on this particular night. For that, MISS!
Leighton Meester chose this Louis Vuitton dress with matching leggings, and totally missed the point! Although she wore the same fab heels that Victoria Beckham wore, this whole look was just all wrong! MISS
Madonna looked all types of wrong! Where do I start? The thigh high patent leather boots, the Louis Vuitton dress or the Marc Jacobs bunny ears? MISS
My favorite look of the night! Molly Sims embodied the “model as muse” theme in this gold Dolce & Gabbana number! HIT
Emma Roberts looked age & event appropriate in this Atelier Versace dress. HIT
Ciara looked simply stunning in this two-toned Emilio Pucci number. Love the complete look! HIT
The never aging Cindy Crawford looked absolutely beautiful in this blue Versace dress! Just gorgeous, love the make-up & hair as well! HIT
Another hot former model, who never ages, Iman looked simple & stunning in this strapless origami style cream Donna Karan gown. Love this look, Iman can do no wrong in my book! HIT
Kanye West & Amber Rose stepped out together looking very simple. Since Amber obviously loves to play with fashion, I was surprised she didn’t go a little harder. I was expecting fireworks from this duo, but they still didn’t disappoint. HIT
The beautiful Alek Wek kept it surprisingly plain and simple in this purple mini, although I love the make-up, I feel like she should have came harder. For lack of creativity, MISS.
The fabulous Eva Mendes never fails to bring her fashion A-Game no matter what red carpet she is on, and this night was no different. She looked amazing in this shimmering Calvin Klein dress. HIT
Kirsten Dunst risked it all in this blue fringe Chanel Haute Couture dress, but failed to get it right. She failed big time in this number, adding at least 20 years to her age. MISS

Thanks for any other great article. The place else could anyone
get that type of info in such a perfect manner of writing?
I’ve a presentation next week, and I’m at the look for such info.
Excellent post! We are linking to this great post

Hi to every body, it’s my first visit of this blog; this web site
consists of amazing and truly fine stuff designed for visitors.
I’m amazed, I must say. Seldom do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and without a doubt, you
have hit the nail on the head. The problem is something that too few men and women are speaking intelligently about.
I’m very happy I found this during my hunt for something relating to this.
I do not know if it’s just me or if everyone else experiencing problems with
your website. It appears like some of the text within your posts are running off the
screen. Can someone else please comment and let me know if this is happening to them
as well? This may be a issue with my web browser because
I’ve had this happen before. Thank you
Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old
daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear
and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely
off topic but I had to tell someone!
