(Re)Create Katy Perry’s Look

15Nov08

I have been a big fan of Katy Perry‘s quirky/retro style (and music) since I first heard and saw her smash hit “I Kissed A Girl”. Whether it’s her hair, her crazy outfit choices or her fabulously applied makeup, she never goes wrong in my book:

Katy recently hit up the MTV EMA’s in England and while that cupcake bag made me want up that more badly, it was her face job that did it for me. Her black liquid eyeliner, her pale pink blush and bright magnolia lips. The look was simple, not too over the top but still managed to stand out. If you love the simply fab look just as much as I did, I have it for you.

To re-create her look, you would need a liquid eyeliner (because pencil liners comes off as cheap), pale blush, matte shocking pink lipstick, brow liner, cream foundation so it blends perfectly and some mascara that has “Volumizing” in it’s job description. So, I scoured the earth (okay maybe just the internet) for the best products that will help you out:

(All numbers below are in the same order as they appear above)

1. Lancome ARTLINER Precision Point Eyeliner in Noir $28, Sephora

2. Christian Doir DiorShow Mascara in Rich Black $24, Sephora

3. NARS Lipstick in Schiap $24, Sephora

4. Make Up Forever Sculpting Blush in Matte Blue Pink $24, Sephora

5. Select Moisture Blend Foundation with SPF 15 $29, MAC Cosmetics

6. Clinique Superfine Liner for Brows in Black/Brown $13, Sephora

STEPS:
a) To bring this look together, you would first start off with applying the MAC Moisture Blend cream foundation (cream is the best option for a foundation to create this look) all over the face.

b) The next step would be the eyes. You would put on the DiorShow mascara, 2 coats, then go on to put on the Lancome ARTLINER liquid eyeliner on the bottom half of the lids. NO CAT EYES!

c) Then you will apply the Make Up Forever Sculpting Blush on the top of your cheeks. To do this, just smile and apply it to the top of your “smile”, then extend it backwards towards your hair line.

d) Nest step, use the NARS Lipstick. Must I give you a step to step? You know what to do with lipstick! (Or do you?)

e) The final step, which I always leave for last! Use the Clinique Super Fine brow liner to sculpt your eyebrows. The eyes is the foundation of your face, you can mess up a good look with a messy brow.
